Garage Tour, version 2010

Rain, rain go away come back later today. That was everyone’s wish. Carol Santacross our leader met us in Duxbury. Even though rain began we counted about 40 members and guests. Some of us brought our Vettes while others chose not to.

Carol greeted us wearing a unique head gear. She traveled many miles to get her conversation piece. Viewing the picture will describe it in detail.

Our first garage was in Duxbury and we followed Carol to her secret spot. Well, she led us to her home in Duxbury Harbor. Her car is under multiple covers called he “un garage.” We were treated to viewing her lovely apartment overlooking the harbor. What a great spot to live.

Our next stop was Elaine and Alan’s trophy filled garage. What a sight! There were so many trophies we couldn’t count them all. We also enjoyed their many pictures of past getaways years ago. It was fun to pick out the members from long ago. Thank you Elaine and Alan for letting us view all your accomplishments.

Everyone followed Mal to her home in South Weymouth. We were treated to her newly remodeled garage filled with pictures and trophies. The checkered curtains jumped out and complemented the tiled floor. Joe entertained the men by showing them their snowmobiles. They have every season covered. Thank you Mal and Joe for our tour we had fun even if we got a little wet. Enjoy your great space where your Vette must be happy.

For the second year Paul and Debbie opened their space called a garage. I think it should be called a fifties escape given the diner inside. Their new Vette sits high on a lift. Good thing because 40 of us needed to fit in for lunch due to the rain. Delicious sandwiches were complemented by salads and desserts from members. This club really knows how to throw a party, food and laughter keep us in shape.
We especially enjoyed what happened when Paul handcuffed Mal to her chair for quite awhile. The whole event planned by Carol made possible by the members made for a great time. Thank you one and all for a special day. See all the photos of the 2010 Garage Tour here.

Pennsylvania Dutch
Weenie Roast Wrap-up

August 11, 2010
Pennsylvania Dutch Weenie Roast Now that’s a mouthful. About 30 members and guests gathered at Shirley and Stan Rydell’s home in Hingham on Wednesday August 11th. The weather was perfect and the fun began about 6:00 PM. We were all able to enjoy the beautiful garden and pond full of gigantic koi fish. Shirley is an avid gardener and it shows..
Stan did the grilling of steak tips and weenies. Side dishes and salads complemented the main meal. Desserts, especially Elaine’s truffle were a perfect ending.
The SSCC members love a good time and tonight filled the bill. Darkness stirred the guests to say good nights. Thank you Shirley and San for a special evening. More photos can be seen
here.

New Corvette Inventory

Since you are alive enough to be reading this you are well aware of the trials and tribulations of General Motors. We all hear of the inventory of new cars sitting on dealer's lots. If you want to peruse the Corvette inventory, here is a website that you can use to search for new Corvettes. There are still unsold 2009 Vettes. You can search on colors, options, models, etc. As of this writing, in July of 2010, there were over 500 ZR-1s available. Get out the check book!

Read a good book lately?

Have you ever read a book that you thought others might enjoy. Here is your opportunity to share that tome with your fellow members. Now because this is a Corvette related site, the Web Site Advisory Council of the SSCC has deemed that the books be auto related. They did not give further guidance.

Remember those dreaded book reports for Ms./Mr. (insert your favorite English teacher’s name here) English class. Not only did you have to read the book but you had to write about it, proving that you actually did read it. Now is your chance to put that hard work you did in junior high to a good use. All we need is the title, author and a brief synopsis. And to keep the WSAC of the SSCC happy, include a bit about how it relates to cars. We will post your recommendation here on our reading list pages.
