Recignition Dinner

Over 100 members and guests filled the function room at the Fireside Grill. Mal and Elaine once again worked so hard to make sure every detail was perfect . Lovely wine centerpieces, two large baskets for a raffle and the 50/50 crew worked the room and a lucky person went home with $202. and that lucky person was Jerry Martin. Dwight Burns and Doug Buchanan each won a basket.

After a delicious dinner President Terry and Vice President Steve began the recognition segment. All of the club's sponsors were recognized. Twenty year or more members were recognized. Activities and food pantry volunteers were given certificates for their contributions. The cruise night crew were honored for their devotion.

President Terry recognized Rita Amante and her family and Bill Wenzel presented portraits of Joe and they were very grateful. An annual presidential award in Joe Amante's name started by President Terry would be awarded to members committed to the club activities and contributing time and talent on a regular basis. Roy and I were totally shocked when Terry presented us with the first award. We love this club and hope to live up to this award in the club's 50th year in 2012 and beyond.

The evening ended with the centerpiece giveaway. The winners were who owned the oldest corvette at each table. Mal and Elaine are so clever.

Best regards,
Judy

Quincy Christmas Parade

2011 Quincy Christmas Parade
Sunday November 27, 2011

Twenty-two Corvettes met at Building #19 and drove to the parade's stagingg area.. The weather was warm and perfect for a long parade. Carmine Carlucci treated everyone to the largest Shrimp I've ever seen. Someone said they were mini lobsters. Also, the Carlucii family vino was given to each car by Carmine and his dad. Thank you Carmine and family.

Everyone flew their flags proudly and many decorated their cars with holiday stuffed animals. Dwight and Rosemarie drove with three large Christmas animals. Santa hats were the uniform of the day. The parade went smoothly and by the end my hand was hurting from all the waving. Corvettes really bring joy to everyone and that is what we like to see. Smiles from the crowd is what it's all about.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays

Best regards,
Judy

Annual Garage Tour

Congratulations to Carol Santacross for another outstanding Garage Tour. Some people love house tours, garden tours and historical tours, the SSCC members love garage tours, it's who we are.

Thankfully there are many homes with special places to keep and work on our precious corvettes and other classic cars. For the past three years Carol has rallied our club members to show off their spaces which are rarely seen by outsiders. Some people are hesitant at first but Carol knows how to charm the best out of people. Read More...

Fall Getaway

Judy’s Journal
New Hampshire Weekend Sept. 9-09-11 thru 9-11-2011
Total attendees 29 and 15 corvettes

Rain, rain go away the SSCC want to play. Many days of rain gave way to sunshine on Friday 9/9/11. We were off to New Hampshire's White Mountains. Elaine and Mal's plans were underway.

We left Bldg. #19 at 10:15 AM with Roy and I agreeing to lead until lunch time. We were able to cruise through Boston without too much traffic and once on Route 93 we cruised along easily. We didn't have a time limit but we were all anxious to reach our destination. The day was so beautiful we could have driven all day. We did get attention driving up 93 with our 13 car caravan.

Lucky Dawg Photo Shoot

Judy's Journal

Sunday August 21, 2011

SSCC members and guests met at the Hanover Mall for another event. There were 15 Corvettes and 25 members and guests.
Jim Johnson led us through country roads to our destination the Lucky Dawg restaurant. The Lucky Dawg sits upon the edge of a scenic pond which made a perfect back drop for the photo shoot.. Bill Wenzel, our in house photographer positioned each Corvette for the best picture. This was a really fun time as we all had turns posing with our cars. It took only about an hour and everyone was pleased with the results.

After the photo shoot we were all seated in the restaurant. We were given a choice of Prime Rib, made especially for us, and many other pub menu choices. My burger was terrific and I would recommend the restaurant to everyone. Roy and I will certainly return and given the comments others will as well. SSCC member always luck out with food after our activities. Today was no exception.

Thank you Jim and the Lucky Dawg for the wonderful setting and food, and to Bill for the professional photos of our Corvettes. We are very lucky to belong to such a great club.
