Father’s Day Cruise Wrap-up
Roy and Judy Charron’s daughter Terri Charron put together an amazing day for us all to celebrate Father’s Day. The weather cooperated and the tops went down and the roofs came off. We gathered first at the Rockland Park and Ride for a journey to an eclectic collection of mostly English sports cars. We made a stop at the Totem Pole rest stop to pick up more members and then a ride down to Hyannis Port with warm breezes was the start of a perfect Corvette day.
Toad Hall is an experience that makes you want to stop and tell strangers about it. It began when we were greeted by collector and owner Bill Putman who graciously answered all our questions about the cars. We were able not only to look and photograph, but to touch. Bill gave us permission to open the doors and sit in the cars. His collection is vast, all red and mostly English. There were a few Datsuns, Porches, and a BMW.
Cars are more than just transportation. Cars have the ability to be albums of memories. You catch a glimpse of an old car and the floodgates of memories are opened. Many of us shared a story of some long ago experience that was triggered by seeing a car in the Toad Hall collection.
Following our visit to Toad Hall, we went off to the Hearth and Kettle for lunch. Thank you to all the members, sons, daughters, wives and dads that attended and an especially big thanks to Terri Charron for a wonderful day. View more photos here. Thanks to Tom Meehan for many of the photos.
