November Trivia Answer
The Trivia Question Committee again dug deep into the esoterica of Corvette knowledge and lore. Here was the question for November:
There have been names and terms used to describe Corvettes and various features of the Corvette. Last month we gave you the term to define. This month we are looking for the item. What does the word "porcupine" describe on a Corvette and most important why? We had had winning answers submitted by Doug Buchanan, Jack Donnelly, Frank Hill, Dwight Burns, Mike Campot and Ron Casiato.
The correct answer was that “porcupine” refered to the heads of the big block engines.
The valves were angled for better flow and because of their angles, they resembled the quills of a porcupine. You can see the angle of the valves in the photo.
The winner, to be drawn at the January meeting will receive a die cast model of, what else, but a 396 engine.
