Vettes to Vets Wrap-up

Vettes to Vets Wrap-up
The weather could have been worse, it could have rained continuously. But it didn't matter. The event was too important to let a little rain bother us. The day started out at our usual meeting place, Building 19, with twelve brave SSCC Vettes and close to 20 members. Our ride up to Billerica was damp and misty. Upon arrival at the Marriot Hotel in Billerica, we were graciously and enthusiastically greeted by our friends from the North Shore Corvette Club, the sponsors of the event. Over 200 Corvettes were on hand to show support for our disabled veterans. We had a short caravan from the hotel to the Bedford Veteran's Hospital. The rain stopped just as we arrived on the hospital grounds and gave us a chance to dry off our Vettes and ourselves. All of our members brought donations of much needed items for the veterans at the hospital. There was an emotional presentation of the Colors by the National Guard, the singing of the National Anthem followed by a Pledge of Allegiance.
Food was provided along with musical entertainment.
SSCC member Tom Meehan was interviewed by Fox News and you can see the clip here, right on the SSCC website. (A new addition to the SSCC website. You will need to have QuickTime installed on your computer to view this clip.) There are more photos here. We would like to thank all the SSCC members that participated in the very worthwhile event. Thanks to Elaine Kemp and Tom Meehan for photos of the event.
